We Need to Talk About Newham: The East London Grime Scene as a Site of Emancipatory Disruption

A presentation by Dr Joy White followed by a discussion on Newham’s contribution to the Grime music scene.  Grime is a contemporary musical genre with its roots in East London.  It is now a genre with a worldwide audience. What are its influences and origins? How does it relate to Reggae, Hip Hop and UK Garage? How has Newham’s Grime foundation allowed the emergence of other musical forms?
