A walk with Newham resident, Shirley Fortune, discovering Canning Town – an area long associated with people of African origin.

  • Discover the origins of buildings, roads and their significance to the Black community
  • Hear about the many notable ‘people of colour’ associated with the area, and those forward thinking individuals who supported the Black community
  • Recall the daily lives of those who lived in the area in the early and mid 20th century
  • Discover how it all began and the enormous, undeniable contribution and legacy
